Good morning!  Today just feels like it’s going to be a great day…I love it when I wake up on “the right side of the bed” don’t you?

Might as well shine

First, I want to thank you all for your kind comments and e-mails regarding yesterday’s post.  You guys are seriously awesome 🙂

Now, I want to share a workout with you!

The class I started teaching on Tuesday is called Cardio HIIT.

Do you know what HIIT means?  I’m sure you’ve heard the word (pronounced “hit”) and/or seen it on your group fitness schedule, but you may not be familiar with what the workout actually entails.

HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training.  This type of workout is a great way to add variety to your current fitness plan, as it is a cardio workout that alternates bursts of hard work with resting time that increases the overall intensity of the workout.  It’s a great way to increase your fitness level, and the best thing about it is that it doesn’t take much time!  Win win!!

It’s also good to remember that HIIT is not the type of workout that you do every single day.  Adding a high intensity workout into your routine 2-3 times a week should do the trick and give your body plenty of time to recover in between HIIT sessions.

Below is the workout I taught on Tuesday and believe me, you will be nice and sweaty when you are done with this one.  Make sure to warm up with about 5-8 min of light cardio, take water breaks when you need them, and stretch when you are done!  **OH! And, because this workout requires NO EQUIPMENT, feel free to do this at home, in the park, in your hotel room, or anywhere you want 🙂

Let me know if you give this workout a try.  I always appreciate feedback.

Songza

Have you guys heard of Songza?  I feel like this is something that has been around for quite a while and I am JUST now learning about it…but it’s so totally awesome!

There are amazing playlists on this FREE MUSIC APP (yeah..gotta love free!) for literally just about anything.  I have been listening to the “Spine Tingling Piano Serenades” for study music and the “Today’s EDM House Hits”  and the “Performance Enhancing Pop:  Cycling” for my workout music.

This music app creates the playlist for you, and as far as I know there are no ads.  It works great on the computer and on the phone…basically I think I’m addicted 🙂

Question of the Day:

  • Where do you get your workout music?

Happy Thursday!
