Healthy Travel Carry On from Treble in the Kitchen

Over the past few years, each fall I get excited to read recaps from all of the bloggers I follow that are RDs or RD2Be’s who attend FNCE (pronounced “fence-see” short for Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo).

Well guess what…this year I am going to FNCE in Boston as a partner with NOW Foods!  NOW will have a booth at the expo, and I will help man the table.  When I’m not behind the table, I’ll be excited to meet many RDs that I’ve only spoken with online and I’ll be attending nutrition education seminars and discussions.

As I was preparing for the trip (I leave this Friday), naturally I started packing my bag (I’m the kind of gal who likes to overpack many days in advance).  I thought it may be fun for me to share some of the items that make it into my carry on (which is a backpack similar to this) when traveling.

  1. Book and Magazine
  2. Resistance Band:  Great for do-anywhere workouts (like this one!)
  3. Ear buds, phone charger
  4. Wallet
  5. Water bottle:  Brian and I received these Kleen Kanteen bottles for Christmas a couple of years ago and LOVE how cold the water stays in them.
  6. Deodorant:  I’ve been experimenting with the whole “natural” deodorant thing lately and this NOW Foods deodorant is the best one I have found so far.  There are a couple of stipulations:  I won’t wear it if I’m doing a super hardcore workout or if it’s very hot and humid outside because it’s very white and the sweat causes white to drip down my sides (attractive) but it’s supposed to be pretty cool in Boston, so I should be fine.
  7. Oatmeal Packets and Nut Butter Packets: These make for quick snacks (just add hot water!) or breakfast.
  8. Snacks:  I typically pack some sort of trail mix and recently I’ve been obsessed with the NOW Raw Energy Nut Mix.  The only ingredients are dried fruit and nuts…can’t beat that!
  9. Business Cards
  10. Pens and Pencils:  I’m an avid note taker
  11. Planner
  12.  Supplements:  Daily, I take a few things like a probiotic and a NOW Peppermint Softgels to help keep my tummy happy.  I make sure to bring these while traveling because any upset in my routine kind of makes my entire body go a little out of whack.  These guys are lifesavers for me!

There ya have it friends! All the fun things in my travel carry on that help keep me healthy and sane while on the go.

  1. Bringing a water bottle is key. They never give you enough water on flights so I like to fill up once I get through security. Looking forward to meeting you in Boston! I’ll come by the NOW booth 🙂

    • I totally agree on never having enough water!! The thing is, I always load up on water once I get through security and then ALWAYS need to take a bathroom break mid flight!!

  2. Have so much fun at FNCE! I love that you’ll be there with NOW. What a good partnership! I wish I could be there this year, but it wasn’t in the cards. Enjoy!

    • They really do have the best raw nuts. SO GOOD! Ear plugs are a good one!! Just in case I need a nap 🙂
