Happy December!

My weekend was full of dates revolving around events at Butler University, where I graduated from college.

The fun started on Friday evening with a sister date.

Before heading to Butler, we met up for some frozen yogurt, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  My toppings and flavors were a random assortment but tasted darn good!  Peanut butter fro yo and red velvet fro yo topped with peanuts, almonds, granola, chocolate chips, and a little bit of cookie dough 😉

We then headed to Butler to watch the Freshly Brewed concert.  Freshly Brewed is Butler’s women’s a cappella group.  This group is near and dear to my heart because I was a member of the group my sophomore through senior year.  I loved being a part of such beautiful and fun music, and I can truly say that I miss every second of it!

The opening act for their concert was the men’s a cappella group, Out of the Dawg House.  It was such a treat to hear both groups produce their wonderful music!

Fast forward to Saturday night, and it was time for Brian and I to have a date night.  We made our annual visit to Butler University’s production of the Nutcracker.

This was our first year going as alums (since I was out of the country last Christmas) and it was so different not knowing a single dancer in the cast.

I absolutely LOVE live performances, and when I attended Butler I worked part time in the box office at Clowes Memorial Hall.  This job had awesome perks such as getting free tickets to Broadway performances and knowing first hand what shows were coming to the theater.  I loved it.

I started going to see the Nutcracker when I was a freshman at Butler, and made sure to attend every year.  It is always at the very beginning of December, and it is such a happy, fun, and heart-warming way to begin the holiday month of December.

sorry about the blurry iPhone pic!

We arrived a little bit early and realized that they sold wine.  Because it was our special date night, we treated ourselves to a glass of the good stuff 😉  I was so impressed with Butler.  The bar tenders in the lobby had iPads with the square app that allowed us to swipe our credit cards right onto the iPad.  So high tech!

We were also provided with cute sippy cups for our wine with the Clowes logo on them to make sure we didn’t spill.

sorry for another poor quality pic!

Even though we didn’t know anyone in the Nutcracker this year, the show was beautiful, our seats were great, and we had an amazing time celebrating the holiday.

What are some of your holiday season traditions?  Did you do anything to kick off the season this weekend?
