Happy belated Valentine’s Day friends!  I hope that the day was filled with love, happiness, and a little treat (whatever that may be to you!) for each and every one of you 🙂  Brian and I had an amazing Valentine’s Day, as this was our last Valentine’s as an unmarried couple.  Crazy!

I woke up nice and early yesterday morning to substitute teach a Bodypump class before work.  Sometimes Brian gets up early to go to the gym with me, however yesterday was not one of those mornings.

body pumpWhen Brian said that he did not want to go to my Bodypump class in order to get a bit more sleep, I was honestly happy so that I could put out his Valentine’s Day present for him to wake up to.  I sprinkled the ground with Hershey’s Kisses from the door to our bedroom leading to his present.

valentines 1I know it’s goofy, but I couldn’t resist!  What’s Valentine’s Day without a little fun?

valentines 2And what did I see sitting out right next to the present I just secretly put on display?

valentinesA present already waiting for me!  I was shocked to see this waiting for me at such an early hour, but I am so thankful that Brian was thoughtful enough to have my treat waiting for me.

When it comes to gift giving, my family is all about the homemade, sentimental gifts.  So, I made Brian a little keepsake that we can display on our wall of the key to our first real apartment together.  He loves it!!

valentines 3Brian, on the other hand, is very practical with his gifts and tends to give “things” rather than keepsakes, but I am A OK with that!  He was so thoughtful in his gift this year, and got me a running outfit for running outdoors in the cooler weather!

The outfit fit perfectly, and I couldn’t wait to take it out for a test run as soon as I got home from work.  3 miles was on my mini-marathon training schedule  so I hit the pavement for a quick little run through our new neighborhood and downtown Indianapolis.

valentine outfitAnother incentive to hit the pavement was the fact that I ate a couple of these little guys at work…oops!  At least they tasted delicious!

dove chocolateAt one point, I actually hit the stop timer on my Garmin, but I know that I turned around at 1.6 miles, so I know actually ran closer to three miles rather than 2.59.  Oh well!  Whatever I ran, it felt great in my new clothes!

running garminAfter the run, it was time for dinner.

We started out with Brian’s favorite appetizer…guacamole.  Guacamole is one of those foods that Brian and I can never seem to get enough of.  We just can’t stop eating it, and last night was no exception!

guacamole appetizerI then made a fun little dinner out of some leftover crockpot vegetarian chili that I made the night before.   I made some vegetarian, sweet potato chili fries!   I baked the sweet potatoes, then topped the “fries” with heated up chili and some reduced fat cheese.

Boy, were these delicious!!

dinner 2Brian had to top his with guac and asked me to take a pic because his meal looked so much better 🙂

dinnerAfter dinner, we cleaned up the kitchen then walked over to one of our favorite frozen yogurt joints, Yogulatte.  I can’t believe how close we are and that the walk took less than ten minutes!  This is going to be dangerous when summer comes around…

My bowl was full of half original tart yogurt, and half strawberry yogurt topped with strawberries, chocolate chips, and granola.

frozen yogurtIt totally hit the spot.

Tonight, Brian and I are going to keep the love going and have our February Date Night.  You can read more about the present that I got Brian for Christmas and our January Date Night here and here.

February Date NightI can’t wait to share our February Date Night with you!

  1. Cookie dough!! So addicting! One of my favorite healthy snacks/desserts is a cold sweet potato. I’ll bake a sweet potato, put it in the fridge for a few hours until it is cold, then mash it up, sprinkle some cinnamon and walnuts in it. It tastes like pumpkin pie! Sometimes I’ll add peanut butter to it…crazy good 🙂

  2. I absolutely love the “now that I’ve kissed the ground you walked on” sign.. way to cute!! I hope you guys continued having a lovey dovey week on your date night 🙂

    • Ha! I love getting goofy with Brian, so I thought the “kiss” the ground you walk on was very appropriate!! 🙂
