Brian and I arrived home to a little surprise last night.  We ordered a rug online last Friday, and it was happily waiting on our porch for us when we got home!  Of course, we immediately had to lay it out so that we could see how the entire room would look.living room

I don’t know about you, but I think it looks pretty darn good!  On Saturday, I spent much of the day purchasing decor for our new home.  Brian and I loved all of it, and we made sure to put everything in it’s place.  We also made sure not to remove any of the tags just in case we received the rug and felt that the decorations did not mesh.  Well, we really liked the feel of everything all together, so while I prepped lunches, Brian cut the tags off of all of our decorations!  What a satisfying feeling 🙂

Green Smoothie

Today’s HealthysELF challenge was to make a green smoothie.  Because I work out in the morning and then shower and get ready at the gym, smoothies are a bit of a challenge for me.  I made my smoothie last night and froze it in hopes that it would thaw out while I was working out.  I will have to let you know how that works since I am posting this before I have worked out!!

I put spinach in my smoothie thinking it would automatically turn it green…I kind of forgot how dark cherries make the tasty drink!  So, even though my smoothie isn’t green in color, it is chock full of spinach, vitamins, and nutrients!

Chocolate Cherry Spinach Smoothie

Yields:  1 smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2/3 frozen banana
  • 2/3 cup frozen cherries
  • 1 tsp raw cacao powder, or unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 packet of stevia, or about 10 drops of liquid stevia
  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 1/2 cup plain, nonfat Greek yogurt

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth!!  Enjoy 🙂
