Happy Tuesday, friends πŸ™‚

So…I have a big announcement to make!

After completing my first half marathon in September of 2011, the running bug bit me…hard.

Since then, I completed 5 additional half marathons setting a new goal for myself each time and working hard to achieve it. Β I even ran a half marathon sub 1:45!! Something I honestly didn’t know was possible.

As the type of girl who is always looking to push myself harder, I’ve always wanted to run and complete a FULL marathon but I didn’t know when. Β Then, it came to me…

26 miles for 26 years.

This year, I turned 26 and I committed to myself that I will complete a full marathon.

I had a runner friend create a training plan for me that incorporated lots of cross training (I love to vary my workouts and find my body does best when I do!), and guess what? Β The first run on the training plan begins TODAY!

While I am SO excited to get started, I am honestly very nervous. Β I still have a bit of research to do regarding nutrition, fueling DURING long runs with real food, and everything else marathon related but I am so excited and ready for the challenge.

I will be running the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon here in Denver on October 18, but I am also completing a half marathon as part of my training. Β This summer will be FULL of running!! Thank goodness for early sunrises and cool morning temps πŸ™‚

So there you have it, friends!Β I’ll try to recap my training for all of you, but I would honestly love to know if any of you have resources to share!Β If you have completed a marathon or have any excellent running tips, I am all ears!

Wish me luck on this crazy running journey!

Would love to hear from you!

  • What is the longest distance you have ever run?
  • Have you ever run a full marathon or a half marathon?
  • Any tips for a first time marathoner?!

  1. I’ve done a few full marathons and a bunch of halfs and can totally understand getting bit by the running bug! My parents both ran marathons before I ever got into running and I used to think they were crazy haha. But I absolutely love it and I’m sure you will too! The best advice I have is to trust your training!!! There are going to be times you don’t feel ready but I promise you are!

  2. That’s such a great goal! Congratulations! I made the goal to run my first full when I graduated from college (it was actually the same day, so I missed my ceremony). I’ve run 2 fulls and a ton of halfs including one on Sunday! The biggest advice I can offer is do NOT skip out on long runs. This is always my biggest problem with training and the reason I always struggle in races! The long runs are so important! You’ll do great though and I can’t wait to follow your journey!
