This was a HUGE weekend for Brian and I, because he is now officially Dr. Rochford! After four years of hard work, Brian graduated from dental school and neither of us can believe it. These past four years have gone by tremendously fast. I am so proud of Brian for fulfilling his longtime goal of becoming a dentist, and now I can’t wait to see where life takes us!
Because we REALLY wanted to celebrate Brian adding “Dr.” to his name, we (Brian’s mom, my mom, and me!) decided to make a pretty big deal out of this event by making really fun decorations and throwing a dentist themed graduation party. It was so fun!
To get a little inspiration, we used Pinterest and we found this blog that also threw a dental school graduation party 🙂
Luckily, my mom is great at graphic design and can whip up a poster/table tent for me without too much hassle. Thanks, Mom!! And luckily, Brian’s mom is a dental hygienist so obtaining dental props and supplies was pretty easy too!
Our celebration wouldn’t have been complete without something sweet, so a coworker of mine suggested making tooth cupcakes! What a brilliant idea. I baked the cupcakes using a homemade funfetti recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction blog, and gave Brian the supplies to sculpt the teeth.
He was disappointed that the teeth weren’t “perfect,” but considering he had frosting, marshmallow, and fondant to work with…I think they look great!
Brian’s mom made beautiful flower arrangements for the event.
My mom made some fun dental signs such as “numbing station” for the drinks.
Oh yeah….and our ice cubes were shaped like teeth!
“Filling Station” for the food.
We had a delicious fajita spread complete with guacamole, black bean dip, veggie and chicken options, and everything in between.
We even had a “Please Scrub In” sign by the sink reminding our guests to wash their hands!
The wreath on our front door didn’t escape any decorations 😉
Andrea (from A Doctor in the House!) is actually a doctor now too!! Her graduation was earlier in the day, and Brian’s was scheduled for the evening. We were so happy she could stop by 🙂
Brian’s family was able to celebrate with us.
And my family came too!
One of my favorite parts of the day was our tour of the dental school.
It was so cool seeing where Brian spent soooo many hours these past four years.
Before we knew it, it was time for Brian to robe up, meet up with his friends and get ready to really become a D.D.S.
He did it!
I am so proud of every single one of them! It has been a crazy and amazing four years, and Brian and I are so ready to see what Colorado and ortho has in store for us. Now, it’s time to soak up all the fun moments we can while still living in Indy before we make the big move out West.
Congratulations IUSD class of 2014!
