There is something about the combo of cherries and almonds that makes my taste buds sing! When my friends at Pacific Coast Producers asked if I wanted some cherries to experiment with in the kitchen I immediately knew that I was going to freeze some and blend them into a cold and creamy Cherry Almond Smoothie. Delicious, creamy and sweet…perfect to satisfy a sweet tooth.

Cherry Almond Smoothie Tips

  • This recipe requires a little bit of forethought. The cherries need to be frozen the night before, and so do the bananas.
  • I enjoy making smoothies on a weekly basis, so I typically keep a bag of frozen peeled bananas in the freezer at all times.
  • I tested this recipe with unsweetened oat milk and unsweetened almond milk, and I think it will work with other milk options too.
  • The almond butter I used was the kind without added oils or sweeteners. Just almonds as an ingredient.

Bordeaux cherries and almond butter combine to make the most creamy and delicious Cherry Almond Smoothie!


Ingredients

Scale

½ cup unsweetened oat milk

10 frozen Bordeaux maraschino cherries, stems removed*

1 banana, frozen

¼ cup plain Greek yogurt or plant-based Greek style yogurt

1 tablespoon almond butter


Instructions

Blend all ingredients and enjoy!

Notes

*You will need to remove the stems and freeze the cherries the night before. To freeze the cherries, place them in a small cup and put in the freezer for several hours or overnight. Remove from the freezer when you are ready to make your smoothie.
