What an amazing first weekend of summer!

With the wedding festivities beginning in just a week and a half, things have been a bit crazy around here.  I haven’t only been consumed with wedding fun, I have squeeze a couple of other things into the agenda too!  Here is a little recap of how I spent my first weekend of summer.

Friday, Indianapolis participated in the worldwide summer solstice event by hosting Monumental Yoga, Indy’s largest yoga session on Monument Circle right in the center of downtown.

I was able to attend with a couple of other work ladies as we represented NIFS, the fitness center we work at. summer solstice yogaIt was amazing to see so many people come out for an event like this.  I am not quite sure how many people were in attendance, but I have heard somewhere between 500 and 1,000.

summer solstice yogaIt was TRULY hot yoga, as the temperatures were well into the 80s and there was not a drop of shade.  Despite the heat and bright sun, the practice was still refreshing and I loved actually being outdoors in a natural setting as opposed to inside a dimly lit classroom.

Being surrounded by so many others doing the same thing was very energizing, and I am so thankful that I was able to participate.

summer dinnerMy dad’s birthday was actually Sunday, and my sister was unable to make it to Fort Wayne for the birthday cookout so I had my dad and sister over for another little birthday celebration on Saturday night.

I was so happy to have them over because I actually made time to cook a real meal that was delicious and not just random ingredients thrown together in a bowl.

salmon dinnerWe enjoyed baked salmon alongside a Greek salad of cucumbers, tomatoes, feta, and black olives.  Perfection!!
