Happy Friday!

I hope the morning is going well and you are all gearing up for a great weekend 🙂

With the marathon this weekend, Brian and I are playing things pretty low key tonight and tomorrow but we are going to head out to dinner with friends visiting from Indiana tomorrow.  Should be fun!

Can I be completely honest?  When it comes to thinking about this whole MARATHON thing I am SO nervous.  I realize that I just need to get out of my own head, relax, fuel up, hydrate, and have a blast but there has been a lot of build-up to this little race.  I have been training for 19 weeks…that is the longest I have ever trained for something!  I really appreciate your support throughout the entire process and I can’t thank each of you enough.

Now, in true Friday fashion here is my Five Things Friday roundup 🙂

Five Things I Ate:

  • Delicious lunch bowls:  jasmine brown rice, roasted vegetables (that I made ahead of time on the weekend and simply reheated), leftover chicken or salmon, alfalfa sprouts, sauerkraut, and tomatoes.  Such a yummy combo!

  • Smoothie bowls:  hemp protein, coconut milk, banana, frozen spinach, topped with granola, almond butter and blueberries.

Zoodles with Shrimp and Thai Peanut Sauce

  • Roasted vegetables, sauteed Southern Green blends from Trader Joes (spinach, mustard greens, turnip greens and completely delish!), and chicken topped with a new butternut bruschetta recipe I cannot wait to share with you!

  • Easy dinner of baked salmon, roasted zucchini and broccoli, roasted white fleshed sweet potato (so good!), and sauerkraut.

Five Workouts:

My workouts have been very light this week in anticipation of the big race on Sunday!

  • Taught Bodypump
  • Ran 4 miles
  • Ran 2 miles
  • Lots of walking
  • Stretching 🙂

Five Things Making Me Happy:

  • 10 Fridays until Christmas! Crazy right!?  I’m so happy it’s the holiday season!

10 Fridays until Christmas!

  • The marathon this weekend! While I’m very nervous and anxious, I am ready to do it! 🙂
  • Getting a post-marathon pedicure…that’s my plan on Monday morning and I cannot wait to have smooth feet (it’s been years!!)
  • Holiday Meal Planning.  This year, Brian and I are hosting my parents, grandparents and a few friends for Thanksgiving and I couldn’t be more excited.  Last year, we hosted Brian’s parents and some friends and I definitely figured out a few tips so that it appeared as though I wasn’t in the kitchen at all 😉  I am having a BLAST planning the menu for our special holiday.
  • My zoodle maker!  I recently purchased the Mastrad 3-Piece Spiralizer Set from Crate and Barrel.  While I would much prefer to have The Inspiralizer, for now this little hand-held tool gets the job done 🙂  When churning out those zoodles, it’s definitely a labor of love! One thing I have learned is smaller/skinnier veggies work best. If you are looking for an inexpensive, small tool to create veggie noodles this is it!

  1. Good luck at the marathon! You’re going to kill it..I know it! 🙂 And that’s a great idea to treat yourself to a pedicure afterwards! I usually do a massage or something because I hate my feet, but that will feel so good 🙂

  2. Oh good luck!!! You are going to rock it! I have my first 11 mile training run this weekend for the half marathon— and I thought last weekends 10 mile was bad hah. A pedi sounds wonderful, Nov 16th, that’s on my to do list as well!
