We spent our morning on @lifestyleliveonwish and I We spent our morning on @lifestyleliveonwish and I had Marie and Claire with me as special guests!

We talked about cooking with kids in the kitchen in honor of National Nutrition Month’s theme of “Fueling our Future.” Having the girls with me to talk about this was so much fun! (Yes, I realize I’m a little nuts for bringing my 1 and 2 year old on live TV 🤪)

Marie was dumping, pouring, and stirring and Claire was taste testing. There are so many different ways for your little ones to be involved and I am so thankful I could show you how my girls like to work in the kitchen right now.

Happy cooking everyone! ❤️❤️

Cooking with your kids in the kitchen can be fun, Cooking with your kids in the kitchen can be fun, but it can also be incredibly messy and a little stressful. I get it, I hate the mess too! So, here are my tips for including your children in the kitchen.

-Embrace the mess. I try to teach my girls my routine of cleaning as I go by modeling and explaining what i’m doing, but at the end of the day I know that cooking is a time to get messy.
-Have fun. We play music and try to keep the mood light.
-Allow your kids to try the ingredients of the meal. We typically set aside some ingredients for tasting and then measure out the right amount for the recipe.
-Ask your young kids to dump or pour the amount you have measured out. Older kids can do the measuring.
-Mise en place or have everything in place. I don’t have the ability to do this every time I cook with the girls, but having all the ingredients and tools out and ready really helps things go a lot smoother.

Cooking with children is not a time saver in the k Cooking with children is not a time saver in the kitchen. It is incredibly messy, makes meal preparation take quite a bit longer, and can even be a little frustrating at times BUT there are so many benefits to getting kids involved in the kitchen.

Cooking with children can be fun for them and a way to get kids EXCITED about food, it can help them feel more in control about the food they decide to eat, and some studies show that having kids help in the kitchen increases their produce intake while also increasing their overall intake at meal time…so even though it’s super messy and can feel like work, this is your little nudge to carve out some time to spend with your kids in the kitchen.

Snagged a few things from @abercrombie recently th Snagged a few things from @abercrombie recently that I just have to share. The blue and white dress is for Marie’s frozen themed birthday party coming up and the traveler mini dress has built-in shorts and will be worn all summer long. (I’m 5’8.5” and got the tall option). It comes in a million colors and I’m pretty sure I need each one.

PS: there is a sale right now ❤️
