Thank you to all of the men and women who served our country and were honored this weekend with Memorial Day.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
Brian and I were actually able to take a little friend-cation getaway and head down to Kentucky.
After my 6 mile early morning run on Saturday, I whipped up a smoothie and packed my bags so we could hit the road!
We picked up a friend, Erin, and Tori followed us the entire way down since she was bringing her two pups. We only made one stop (which is pretty impressive with me as a passenger…world’s smallest bladder right here!) on the way down.
Before we knew it, we were pulling up to this beautiful cabin.
We unloaded our bags, got settled and Erin and I got busy in the kitchen whipping up Cookie and Kate’s Skinny Margaritas.
These were so tasty, refreshing, and EASY to make! If you are looking for a good homemade margarita recipe definitely check out Cookie and Kate. I am so thankful Erin showed me this recipe!
The weather was PERFECT, so we were able to just hang outdoors and enjoy the sun and each other’s company.
After a day of fun drinks, cards, and other games we grilled our delicious dinner.
Kate made a delicious quinoa salad, Erin brought some burgers and I made some black bean sweet potato burgers. Everything was gobbled right up!
One of the GREAT things about this cabin is that there was no internet access. It was actually really refreshing to not constantly check my phone, schedule social media for the blog, and feel connected 24/7…I kind of needed a break. It was EASY to take a break with this as the view…
We spent plenty of time enjoying the wonderful scenery.
We also spent some quality time on the four wheelers! I was pretty shy and a little scared to ride at first, but honestly….it was pretty darn fun 🙂
Brian was my driver 🙂
After four wheeler riding was over, Kate’s dad taught me his bloody mary recipe. So good!!!
We got in some warmer/cozy clothes as the night started to cool off and we played a couple of fun games as the sun set.
The boys got the fire ready. Look at those flames!! 🙂
The weekend was full of lots of friend time, relaxation, and so much fun. Brian and I absolutely loved it.
Thanks so much to Kate and her family for inviting us down!! We can’t wait to do this again 🙂

That skinny margarita looks so refreshing! I also like that black floral romper that you’re wearing. It’s so cute!
I went up to the mountains over the weekend. I had no cell phone reception so I couldn’t check anything on my phone and it was actually really nice to take a break from it and enjoy my surroundings more!
It was so great, Polly!! So fun to go to the mountains. Isn’t it so freeing to be away from technology? Don’t get me wrong…I do love it, but I also love being without it every once in a while 🙂
What a fun weekend with lots of good food/drinks and people! Love the puppy dog, too! 🙂
Thanks, Hannah!! Isn’t the puppy cute!!?
Looks like such a great weekend! It is so nice to unplug every once and awhile… and so necessary. Also, I would never have been able to stop once… tiny bladder over here too 🙂
HA! Glad to know you have a tiny bladder too!!!
Looks like a great time. It’s always the best when you can unwind w/ good company & just enjoy yourself. I’m perfectly content w/o social media or my phone whenever we’re on vacation.
It was SO fun 🙂
