Hello and happy October!

Today is officially my first Foodie Pen Pal reveal day!

Foodie Pen Pals is the brilliant creation of Lindsay over at the Lean Green Bean.  It is a great way for bloggers and blog readers to connect, interact, and try new foods from around the country.

The Lean Green Bean

On the 5th day of each month, a “match” list is sent out to all of the participants.  Each participant is then responsible for contacting his or her pen pal to find out food likes, dislikes, allergies, and intolerances.

By the 15th of each month, each participant is to send a food goodie ($15 is the max!) that can be homemade, local, store bought, sweet, salty, healthy, or naughty to his or her pen pal.

On the last day of the month (or the first, depending on when the last day falls) each participant who has a blog is to write a post about the treat that they received in the mail.

It sounds a bit complicated, but Lindsay does a great job sending reminders and updates.  It’s a great way to meet other people and read new blogs!

I was so excited when I finally received my package in the mail.

I got goodies from all over the place.  My pen pal was originally from the Virginia area and now he lives in Chicago, but travels frequently out of the country.

He sent me roasted garlic onion jam, raspberry pancake and waffle mix, lemon candies from Tokyo, and lemon creamed honey.

There were so many goodies that I haven’t had a chance to try them all out, but I did manage to try a lick of the lemon creamed honey…delish!

The honey is so sweet, and the lemon flavor is subtle but very tasty.  I think this would be great mixed into some Greek yogurt.

I had a great time participating, and I can’t wait to send and receive more goodies for October!!

*PS.  If you want some more Food Pen Pal action, head on over to It’s the Stringers to check out what I sent to my pen pal!
