Recently, I have seen quite a few bloggers like Linz from Itz Linz and Meg from A Dash of Meg eating bags of “Mix My Own.”

mix my own

Mix My Own is a company that is passionate about providing people with healthy and delicious breakfast food.  Anyone can log on to the Mix My Own web site, create his or her own mixture of granola with organic, non GMO ingredients, and have tasty snack or way to start the day.

Because I am a HUGE breakfast fan, and love anything that is “create-your-own” I decided to check it out and give it a try!

The Mix My Own web site was so simple to use.  I hopped on over and was easily able to read about the company, get some inspiration from “pre-selected mixes” and check out the recipes using the Mix My Own muesli/granola.

Just a couple of short days later my yummy package arrived!

My mix included:  Five grain bircher muesli base, organic sour cherries, natural almonds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, organic ground cinnamon, and a vanilla bean.

It’s so tasty!

So far, I have enjoyed it mixed with regular hot oats:  I combined a quarter cup of oats with a quarter cup of my Mix My Own mix and prepared them like regular oats.  So good!

I also included them in my overnight oats.

I love the crunchy texture the nuts add in along with the tartness and chewiness of the dried cherries.  It’s a nice change from simply plain oats in my breakfast.

I love it so much that I want to share my overnight oats and muesli breakfast recipe with you!!

Pumpkin Overnight Oats and Muesli

Yields:  1 serving

I am a BIG breakfast eater and this is typically my biggest meal of the day, so this breakfast may seem a little big but I promise it will hold you over until lunch!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup Mix My Own muesli
  • 1/2 cup non-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin
  • 1/2 tsp chia seed
  • a dash of pumpkin pie spice
  • one packet stevia
  • Optional Toppings: 1/2 cup blackberries (this is what I topped it with!), 1 Tbsp almond butter, 1/2 banana, more muesli for extra crunch

Directions:

In your favorite container, combine all ingredients and allow to sit at least half an hour to thicken up OR overnight (if you remember to prep these the night before 😉 )

I hope you enjoy!
