I hadn’t intended on taking a blogging break this weekend, but with all of the wedding fun and wedding planning that occurred it just kind of happened!

Friday night was spent with Brian and one of my bridesmaids getting crafts ready for our wedding which is just a short 37 days away.  Saturday was spent driving to St. Louis and celebrating the wedding of a childhood friend of Brian’s whose family has remained extremely close to his over the past several years.

When we arrived at the hotel on Saturday, we were greeted with a cute goody bag full of chocolate covered pretzels and a little note from the wedding families.

photo (12)We were all able to get ready fairly quickly, so what did we do with our extra time?

We decided a little pre-wedding drink was necessary…

A local musician sang softly in the background, completely setting the tone for the entire night.

P1000825After a beautiful ceremony, we all walked to the back of SqWires for the reception.

P1000817I seriously just loved the way that everything pulled together!  The exposed brick, old fans, and almost industrial-style ceiling provided the perfect contrast to the soft yellow and white flowers that were scattered throughout the room.  Everything was gorgeous.

P1000809They had a delicious and cute coffee bar as part of their dessert display.

P1000811I had two cups, just because it was so fun to experiment with all of the syrups and toppings!

P1000813The cupcakes for dessert were a complete hit…we even got to take some home!  Brian was happy about one!! 😉

P1000815One of the brides’ grandmother’s made some delicious homemade cookies for the dessert bar.  I only tried one, but boy were these good!!

photo (5)When it was time for dinner, we started our evening meal with a delicious spinach salad topped with hearts of palm, cranberries, red onion, fried goat cheese, and a vinaigrette dressing.  This salad was delicious!  I am a huge goat cheese fan, and it was really the star of the show in this dish.

photo (19)I opted for the vegetarian meal, and I would have to say that this was the best vegetarian option that I have ever tasted.

Noodleless lasagna.

photo (6)This “lasagna” was full of carrots, eggplant, and zucchini instead of traditional noodles and was absolutely tasty.  The only reason I didn’t clean my plate was to save room for some of this…

photo (3)The cupcakes were delicious, but huge so Brian and I shared one…yum!

After dinner, it was time to start moving towards the dance floor…and of course snap a few pictures with the blushing brides 🙂

photo (18)We ended the night on a high note of dancing and fun.

photo (2)There was so much love, support, and happiness in the air at the wedding.  I am so happy for Kate and Jill to truly begin their lives together!

I think their cake topper says it all…

photo (17)The first wedding of the “season” was a success!  Brian and I can’t believe that the next one on the agenda is OURS!

Congratulations Kate and Jill!!
