Last night, Brian and I did NOT complete the workout that we had planned before bed time. ย By the time we got home from work, got some things from his parents house, and ate dinner, it was 9pm…call me “old” but I like to wind down at 9pm with the hopes of getting in bed before 10pm so that I can workout early the next morning.

Believe it our not, as much as I LOVE to workout…there are some mornings (like this morning) when I really just want to cozy up under the warm covers and skip my workout. ย Sometimes that is OK, but other times I keep my workout motivations mantra in the back of my head…

You are one workout away from a good mood.ย

Sometime last month, Fitness magazine tweeted the question “What is your stay-motivated mantra for working out?”

When I saw this I quickly responded with my mantra, as that truly is motivation for me on most mornings when I am less than excited about heading to the gym. ย As soon as I get those endorphins coursing through my veins almost all negative thoughts are gone from my mind and I feel great!

A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine told me that she was reading Fitness magazine at the gym and saw a comment from @trebleinthekchnย and thought that it may be me….well sure enough it was!

They put my motivation mantra in Fitness magazine!

fitness magazine 1Some of the other motivation mantras listed were:

  • “You are the sole deciding factor between procrastination and progress.”
  • “Do more, be more”
  • “Think care, not calories. ย Nourishing your body goes beyond the fads and lasts into the future.”

As we move into 2013, many of us will set new goals that focus on our health.

I thought it would be a great idea to compile a list of several motivation mantras from readers of Treble in the Kitchen for those days when we don’t want to get out from under the covers, lace up our gym shoes, or set foot in the gym. ย Your mantra may be the motivation that someone else needs!

Will you help me compile a list of 100 motivation mantras before the new year? ย Simply comment below with your mantra to make sure that it is added to the list!

  1. My mantra is actually less of a mantra, and more of a question I ask myself. When I’m feeling like I want to quit or not go to the gym, I ask “is this my body talking, or my mind talking.” – I heard this somewhere not long ago and it really stuck. 9 times out of 10, it’s a mental obstacle, and in reality- I CAN run an extra mile, or squeeze in a workout on a busy day.

Can’t say it enough- love your blog!

    • I LOVE it!! Working out is such a mental game, that is a great question to ask yourself ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for reading!!

  2. That is so cool you were published! ๐Ÿ™‚

I like the one workout from a bad mod quote. Also, I heard Oprah say years ago that when she feel like she doesn’t have time or shouldn’t take the time to work out she thinks “I did this for myself today.”

  3. I have 3…

    Summer is coming.

    I want Michelle Obama arms!

I never regret when I do it. I always regret when I don’t.
