Saturday, Brian and I completed the September date from last year’s Christmas gift:  a year of dates.

To celebrate the first weekend of FALL we headed to Tuttle’s Orchard for some apple picking!

The weather was absolutely gorgeous.  Perfectly sunny, a little chilly so we could wear warmer fall clothes, and just amazing!

When we arrived, we picked out our wagon to fill with apples and then we were headed out to find the best looking tree.

I honestly don’t even remember what kind of apples we got, but we ended up getting around 10lbs….now that’s a lot of apples! So don’t be surprised if you start to see a lot of apple recipes on here in the near future!

Of course, Brian claimed he found the PERFECT apple.  Not sure if it was perfect, but it did look pretty darn good!

After we finished picking apples, we noticed that there was a U-Pick Sunflower station as well!  Sunflowers are absolutely one of my favorite flowers…so we HAD to take advantage of this!  It was only $1 per stem, but the woman explained that we could get as many flowers on one stem as we wanted.

We ended up getting all of these flowers with just two stems!! Score!

And of course we had to pick up a mum for the front porch 🙂

We enjoyed some apple cider and walking around the rest of the orchard.  We also walked through the orchard shop and picked up some fresh eggs, local tomatoes, and squash.  I can’t wait to cook the squash up. Later in the season Tuttle’s will have U-Pick pumpkins available, so we may have to head back for that!

The staff was extremely friendly, the orchard is gorgeous and well kept, and Brian and I absolutely loved it there!  I think that this will be a tradition we make sure to do EVERY year from now on.

Happy fall!

Question of the Day:

  • Do you have a favorite place to go apple picking in your town?
  • What are some favorite apple recipes?  I need help putting these apples to use!
