Hello hello!!  Happy 2017!

It feels good to be back 🙂   I planned on taking a bit of a blogging break during the holidays, but it honestly ended up being more like an unplanned overall social media break.  Sure I would check things here and there, but more often than not I was simply being present in the moment, snapping pictures, hanging with family, or just relaxing.  It was absolutely wonderful.

While I LOVED the long overdue mental break, I now feel re-energized and ready for routine in all ways shapes and forms.  Before we get back into our typical food and fitness blogging mode, I thought I would share a bit about our time at home.

On December 17, Brian and I loaded up the Subaru with luggage, gifts, and three dogs and we hit the road for Indiana.

Christmas 2016

Unfortunately, the previous night it snowed about 6 inches in Denver and the weather continued to be a wintery mix our entire drive that day.  Rather than charging through and making the trip to Indiana in one day we ended up stopping in Kansas City to stay with family friends.  It was a great decision, because as the sun was setting the snow was still falling and things were getting very icy.

After a good night’s sleep and a hot meal that did not consist of road trip snacks, we were ready to hit the road again.

We finally made it to our destination on Sunday night and it felt SO good to be in good ole Indiana.

We divided our time between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis so we could see both my side and Brian’s side of the family.

Our time in Fort Wayne consisted of playing with the pups in the snow.

It was Rooney’s first time playing in the snow, so it was fun to spoil her as she tried to figure out what the cold white stuff was 🙂

We also spent time exploring new shops in downtown Fort Wayne.  I feel like there are new, cute stores every time Brian and I visit!

As tradition has it, we made our fair share of cookies.

We did quite a bit of cuddling and relaxing.

And Rooney made a few new friends.

After about a week in Fort Wayne, we headed down to Indianapolis on Christmas morning to spend time with the Rochford family.

We celebrated Christmas with everyone by playing games, exchanging white elephant gifts, eating delicious food, and drinking tasty drinks.  It was perfect!

Throughout the rest of the week in Indianapolis, we shopped around cute shops in Franklin, IN and had a delicious lunch at the Court Street Cafe.  (I had the ultimate veggie sandwich on sourdough minus the mayonnaise and the tomato basil soup…so comforting!)

We also drove through the Christmas lights at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Brian’s family.  The displays were pretty neat, but I think the coolest part about the experience was actually driving on the track for a little bit.

We made sure to stop to visit the Circle of Lights.

And we celebrated Brian’s Aunt Erin’s birthday.

Christmas 2016

The entire trip was very fun, relaxed, and went all too fast (per usual!).

After two weeks of fun and little responsibility, we packed up the car and drove back home to Denver.  Luckily, the weather was sunny and precipitation free so we were able to make the trip in one day.

Now, we are back in Denver attempting to get organized and back into the groove.

I hope all of your holidays were fantastic and full of memories!!
