I love when coffee shops pull out their fall and winter seasonal drinks. It signifies the change of seasons, the nearing holiday season, and they are a fun treat to enjoy on occasion.

This year, we are all staying home more often so I created a homemade pumpkin spice latte with oat milk that not only tastes incredibly cozy but contains less sugar than the seasonal drinks made in the coffee shops AND has REAL pumpkin puree (giving the drink a boost of vitamin A and so many of the other wonderful benefits of pumpkin).

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Tips

  • You can make this drink by heating the ingredients over the stove or in the microwave. Both require about the same amount of dishes and time, so it’s really a matter of preference here.
  • To get the milk frothy, I recommend using a barista blend Oat Milk like the kind from Califia Farms (affiliate link). 
  • Once the ingredients are heated, you then blend in a blender or use a milk frother. I have a milk frother like this (affiliate link) and really love the foam it creates, but a blender also works.
  • Make sure to use real maple syrup and not pancake syrup for this recipe.
  • Use your favorite strongly brewed coffee for this recipe so you can taste the coffee blended with the pumpkin latte mixture.

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Nutrition

  • This recipe includes real pumpkin, which gives it a boost of vitamin A, antioxidants, vitamin C, and many other nutrients that help boost the immune system, fight chronic disease, and help keep your body being the best it can be.
  • Oat milk is dairy free and gluten free (be sure to check the label if this is important for you), but not low FODMAP according to the Monash University app.

Calling all PSL lovers! This Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte with Oat Milk is a fun drink to make when celebrating fall and the Thanksgiving season at home. It’s dairy free, gluten free, and plant-based!


Ingredients

Scale

1 cup oat milk

2 tablespoons pumpkin puree (homemade pumpkin puree recipe)

2 teaspoons maple syrup

¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ cup strongly brewed hot coffee


Instructions

  1. For the stove top: Combine the oat milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla in a saucepan and heat until bubbling around the edge.
  2. For the microwave: In a microwave safe bowl, combine the oat milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla. Cover the bowl with a plate and microwave until hot (about 1-2 minutes depending on the microwave).
  3. Pour the heated mixture into a blender (or use a milk frother affiliate link) until the mixture is foamy.
  4. Pour the hot coffee into a mug and add the foamed pumpkin milk. Enjoy!

Notes

This recipe is not low FODMAP. 

This recipe makes 1 large latte or 2 smaller drinks. Nutrition info for this drink depends on the type of oat milk used.
